MITTAN Jacket 95 in Off Black

By MITTAN
Regular price $ 545.00

A handwoven jacket in a soft and drapey cotton with a boxy shape, a small collar, buttons down the front, and two front patch pockets. Though it is called "off black", the fabric reads as more of a dark blue green. Due to the nature of the handwoven fabric, weaving quirks and slubs in the fabric are part of the character. Unlined.

Made in Japan.

MITTAN – founded in 2013 in Osaka, Japan – strongly opposes the attitude shift toward clothing that has happened in the last several decades. Garments that were damaged used to be mended or re-fashioned for another purpose. Clothing has become distant to us both materially and spiritually, and MITTAN aims to return it to a place of importance and long use. As a practice, MITTAN uses natural materials, they are transparent with their production methods and sources, and also offer highly tenchical mending and re-dying of used garments to prevent items from being cast aside. They are now based in Kyoto.
