Every whimsical character is handmade in upstate New York by husband and wife duo Crystal and Ben Sloane. They use the lost art of spun cotton, a century old craft inspired by the techniques used by cottage artisans who made holiday ornaments in Victorian era Germany. Each piece is made using cotton, cotton batting, a wire framed armature, and various types of paints and washes.
Many of these adorable treasures are outfitted in crepe paper clothing, and accessorized with a variety of new, vintage, and found materials, including Dresden scraps, ribbons and trims, antique Czech glass beads, vintage paper, glitter, and many other materials.
All people characters have paper scrap faces that originate from images from Victorian postcards. Most animal figures/ornaments have hand painted details and are bendable.
Please note: All figures are handmade and one-of-a-kind with color and small detail variations.
